Budhia wins them all

GUNTUR: The running sensation from Gautam Nagar in Bhubaneswar, Budhia Singh, was given a warm send-off by children, schoolteachers, leaders of various political parties and others alike at a special programme held at NTR Stadium in the city on Monday evening.

Budhia participated in a number of programmes during his two-day visit to Guntur city beginning Sunday.

Minister for Cooperation and Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, who was the chief guest, said that Bhudia with his innate talent and disciplined lifestyle was an example to hundreds of schoolchildren.

"Budhia has a bright future under the guidance of his coach Biranchi Das, who dreams of seeing Budhia win an Olympic medal," the Minister said.

Later, he felicitated the duo and wished them good luck.

Shelter opened

Budhia inaugurated a shelter for the streetchildren run by Bala Bharathi, a social organisation.

At a separate function held in the morning, Guntur-II MLA Tadisetty Venkata Rao presented Budhia a cash award of Rs.10,000.
