Bangalore: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh on Tuesday criticised the Government for what he described as a complete lack of coordination between the coalition partners in handling the problems facing it. This had forced the Opposition to resort to dharna and other forms of agitation in the legislature. He was speaking to presspersons after consulting floor leaders of various Opposition parties on the refusal of the Government to agree to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project and the bribery charge against Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on which the Opposition had sought to move an adjournment motion. The coalition partners the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Bharatiya Janata Party had failed to take a coordinated stand on the two issues, he said. Mr. Singh said the allegations of irregularities in the BMIC project could not be gone into by a Commission of Inquiry as the Supreme Court had cleared most of the issues pertaining to the project. Only the CBI could handle the matter, but the Government was in no mood to listen to the Opposition. On the BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy's allegation of bribe taking against the Chief Minister, he said the Speaker had not allowed any discussion on it at all. On the criticism that the Opposition was stalling the proceedings in the legislature and not allowing important issues to be raised, Mr. Singh clarified that the two issues raised by the Opposition were most important ones, and the people were eager to know what action the Government proposed to take. Once the Opposition was allowed to discuss them, other important questions could be taken up, he added.
