BIAL to get 192 acres more

75 per cent of work on international airport to be completed in the next 12 months

BANGALORE:
The Government will grant an additional 192 acres of land to Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL), which has begun work on the construction of the international airport at Devanahalli in Bangalore Rural district.
Zurich Airport Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joseph Felder and CEO of the international airport Albert Brunner on Tuesday called on Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to apprise them of the progress of work in the airport project.
Mr. Felder and Mr. Brunner held detailed discussions with Mr. Yediyurappa at the latter's official residence and sought the additional land for the project.
Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Yediyurappa said the Government would grant the required land and other facilities sought. BIAL had promised the Government that it would complete 75 per cent of the project work in the next 12 months, Mr. Yediyurappa said.
Later, Mr. Felder and Mr. Brunner called on the Chief Minister and discussed the issue of inviting global tenders for various works. They also invited him to the project site to inspect the progress of work.
