Kozhikode: A red alert has been sounded in Kozhikode district in the wake of the serial blasts in Mumbai city on Tuesday. All the police stations in the city and the rural areas have been instructed to check and monitor railway stations, bus stations and public places in their jurisdiction, Kozhikode Rural Superintendent of Police, C. Sharafudeen, who is also holding charge of the Kozhikode City in the absence of the Police Commissioner, said. Police patrolling has been stepped up during night. Commuters have been asked to report about any suspicious objects lying at the railway stations and bus stations, the police said. Kozhikode city had witnessed blasts at the Mofussil and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stations in March this year.
