COIMBATORE: The Kari Motor Speedway is all set to witness more action when the third round of the JK Tyre Rotax Mojo Max Indian Karting Challenge begins here this weekend. The qualifying races are scheduled for July 15 followed by the main races on July 16. The opening round saw Akhil Khuslani of Hyderabad calling the shots over defending champion Aditya Akkineni. However, the latter bounced back to win the second round in style. Giving them a stiff contest in the seniors' category was Aditya Patel, a promising youngster from Chennai. In the junior category, the fight will be between Mohit Ahuja from Mumbai and Kolkata lad Karan Goenka. Both won a round each. Akshay Patel and Anand Prasad from Chennai are also in the reckoning. There's no stopping Vishnu Prasad in the Rotax Mini Max category. The Chennai lad dominated the first two rounds. Parth Ghorpade of Kolhapur and Shashank Shankar of Chennai are also in the race for the top slot. At the end of the second round, Aditya Akkineni (86.5 pts), Karan Goenka (85.5) and Vishnu Prasad (88) lead the championship table in the senior, junior and Rotax Mini Max categories respectively. There will be two qualifying sessions followed by two heats, a pre-final and a final. The heats will be held over 15 laps and the rest will have 20 laps. The karting challenge consists of five rounds. The winner in the junior and senior category will represent India in the World Rotax karting final to be held in Portugal later this year.
