NEW DELHI: The BJP on Tuesday reiterated that the Manmohan Singh Government was no longer functioning coherently. It pointed to the virtual rejection by the Prime Minister of the 3-member Group of Ministers on Narmada-related relief and rehabilitation work and his acceptance of the Oversight Committee that had submitted an opposing point of view. Party general secretary and spokesperson Arun Jaitley charged the GoM , comprising Saifuddin Soz, Prithviraj Chauhan and Meira Kumar, with having ``deliberately" falsified facts to make out a case for stopping work on the Narmada project. ``It was only after the fast undertaken by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi that the Prime Minister appointed the [Shunglu] Oversight Committee,'' Mr. Jaitley said. The Prime Minister had himself shown lack of confidence in the GoM's report as he had rejected the view presented in it, Mr. Jaitley said. ``The least that he should now do is seek the resignation of the three Ministers." The Oversight Committee, he said, had found that of the total rehabilitation sites 37 were good, 25 average and 25 needed further improvement. In contrast the GoM report said that no drinking water or sanitation facilities existed at the rehabilitation sites and no hospitals, schools or post offices had been provided for. Condemning the grenade attacks in Srinagar on Tuesday that left many innocent victims dead, he said neither the Centre nor the State Government had assessed the situation as serious.
