He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Anna University

CHENNAI:
Former Vice-Chancellor of the Anna University P. Sivalingam passed away on Tuesday morning following heart attack. He was 83.
He died in Malar Hospital where he was admitted on Monday night. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of the Anna University for three years from 1978.
He held the post of Director of Technical Education. He retired as the chief engineering general of the Public Works Department in 1977.
Mr. Sivalingam completed his Bachelor of Engineering from the College of Engineering Guindy and M.S. in Irrigation from Berkeley University, in the U.S.
He is survived by two sons, S. Mayilvahanan and S. Kumaresh, and a daughter, Banumathy Raju, who are doctors by profession.
`Active person'
"He was an active person and loved to read. He took part in a meeting at Anna University even on the day of his death," Dr. Banumathy Raju said.
