Protest against move on Group II posts

Government decides to fill just 684 of 1,600 vacancies

HYDERABAD: Group-II Struggle Committee and four youth organisations have protested against the Government's decision to fill only 684 of the 1,600 vacancies.

S. Srinivas Reddy, leader of the committee, and youth leaders G. Eshwaraiah (AIYF), T. Sagar (DYFI), Hanmesh (PYL) and Subash (RYA) at a press conference on Tuesday resented the Government's decision not to implement the interim order of the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal on the issue. They demanded a hike in the direct recruitment quota in all 29 categories of posts under the group II notification in view of the APAT order.

The youth leaders said several unemployed persons had approached the tribunal to secure justice against the Government move to cut the quota.

`YSR misled'

However, they alleged, officials were misleading Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy saying the Supreme Court ruling on APAT orders need not be taken note of. This had led to the decision to fill only 684 posts.

They pointed out that the ruling party should note that the previous Telugu Desam regime had paid a heavy price adopting anti-youth policies. The Congress Government would meet the same fate as its predecessor if the present trend continued, they said.
