Appointed chairman

CHENNAI: For the third time, an Indian neuropsychiatrist has been appointed Chairman of the Neuropsychiatry Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAF).

E.S. Krishnamoorthy, who holds the T.S. Srinivasan Chair in Clinical Neurosciences at Voluntary Health Services, Chennai, will serve as ILAE Commission's Chair over the next four years, to work on education, research and development and health care and policy.

The ILAE is the premier professional body of doctors specialising in epilepsy, a common neurological disorder.

The president of the ILAE appoints international academic commissions for a four-year period, charging them with the responsibility of developing a greater understanding of epilepsy. The Commission, which Dr. Krishnamoorthy to lead, will also collaborate with 10 other leading epileptologists from the world over to work on, among other things, promoting greater awareness and academic research in developing countries.
