CHENNAI: All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday asserted that she had no information on the Governor's decision to return the Cable TV Bill till she demitted office on May 11. "Now, the DMK [Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam] minority Government claims that the Bill was returned by the Governor on April 24 itself. I have no way of knowing whether this claim is true or not," she said in a statement. As soon as the Assembly passed the Cable TV Bill in January 2006, the legislation had been sent to the Governor. "It was not returned by the Governor until March 31 when I left on my election campaign tour, although frequent reminders, in the meanwhile, had been sent to the Governor," she said. Referring to press reports to the effect that she had confirmed that the Cable TV Bill was returned on April 24, she described them as "absolutely incorrect." At the press meet on Monday, she responded to a reporter's query on the Governor's action in April, by saying that she was away on election tour at that time. "I certainly did not confirm or admit that the claim was true. What I actually meant was that I had no way of knowing whether the said Bill had been returned or not," she added.
