Arrangements in place for online counselling

Facilitation centres, help desks flooded with queries

KOZHIKODE: All arrangements have been made at the two facilitation centres and two help desks in the district for the internet-based counselling programme for allotment of seats to engineering and medical colleges in the State.

Though the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) has notified that the centres and desks would function only from July 12, many students registered on Monday and Tuesday itself. "We have made all arrangements for the programme. More than 100 students had come on Monday about 80 students on Tuesday," says Dr Z.A. Zoya, Principal, Government Engineering College, West Hill, Kozhikode.

E.S. Shajahan, Assistant Professor of the College who is in charge of the counselling process at the College said that five Assistant Professors would guide the students who were coming to the college.

"Most of the students have come from Kozhikode district. Some have even come from Malappuram. About 50 students have already registered their options by using the facilities at the College so far. Some of the students have partially exercised their options," says Mr. Shajahan.

A total of five terminals have been provided at the College with 256 kbps connectivity.

The other facilitation centre in the district is Cooperative Institute of Technology, Mandarathur PO, Vadakara (ph.0496-253 6125, 2537225). The other help desk is LBS Centre in Mavoor Road.
