Raids conducted, seeds seized in Gulbarga

GULBARGA: A high-level team of the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat on Tuesday conducted raids on two Raitha Samparka Kendras and seized 40 bags containing grass seeds and materials used for providing veterinary services. The seeds and the materials were allegedly procured using funds provided for watershed development programmes.

The raid by the team followed a decision taken at the general body meeting of the zilla panchayat on Monday to conduct an inquiry into purchases made by the Watershed Development Department and seize materials for quality checks.

The team raided the Raitha Samparka Kendras at Kusnur and Kalhangarga.

Deputy Secretary of the zilla panchayat Kashinath Gokhale said it appeared there were irregularities in purchases, and a report would be submitted in a week.
