Spuriously marked motor seized

Coimbatore: The Bureau of Indian Standards, Coimbatore Branch, conducted a search on the premises of Sri Kavery Engineering Company, Sanganoor, and seized spuriously marked motor for submersible pumpsets. The BIS filed a case against the above firm for violation of the BIS Act 1986.

The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Coimbatore, has sentenced the firm and its proprietor to pay a fine of Rs. 40,000 and if failed to remit the fine, undergo a simple imprisonment for three months, according to a release from the BIS.
