Congress now eyes Kuppam

After good ZP show, party wants to capture Naidu's constituency in 2009 polls

HYDERABAD: Buoyed by the success of the party in the Panchayat Raj elections, the Congress Legislature Party has now set a target of capturing the Kuppam Assembly constituency, represented by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, in the 2009 elections.

"We are moving strategically and we have elected Kuppam ZPTC member as Chairman of Chittoor Zilla Parishad. This is only a beginning and Mr. Naidu will have to search for a new constituency in the next elections," Government chief whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he demanded that Mr. Naidu step down from his post owning moral responsibility for TDP's debacle in successive elections.
