BANGALORE: Work on Arkavathy Layout will not be affected by the interim stay granted to petitioners by the High Court, an advocate for the Bangalore Development Authority has said. "The total extent of land of covered by the interim order does not affect the project in its totality," said the advocate, on the condition of anonymity. The High Court on Monday ordered maintaining of status quo in respect of those lands in which discrimination was alleged during the acquisition proceedings. Several landowners had moved the High Court challenging the order of the Commissioner, BDA. The Division Bench of the High Court, while giving the go-ahead to the Arkavathy Layout in November 2005, had stated that if the lands fall under the green belt area or if it is totally built up or belongs to charitable trusts, educational and religious institutions, nursery lands, factories or lands (similar to lands) which have not been notified prior to the preliminary notification, applications may be filed before the BDA seeking exclusion from acquisition. The advocate said that as the High Court order was "purely interim in order and subject to hearing of detailed arguments of the BDA," work on the layout would continue as scheduled.
