Awareness drive on EMRI services urged
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Collector of Hyderabad R.V. Chandravadan has directed officials to take up a massive awareness campaign on free ambulance services offered by the Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) being available on dialling 108.
At EMRI executive committee meeting on Tuesday, the Collector said hoardings should be put up at all strategic locations, Government offices, slums, inside RTC buses, etc.
Transport and Fire Services departments too should immediately alert EMRI on `108' in the event of emergencies, he added.
Mr. Chandravadan wanted the education department to ensure that at least one class on emergency situations for school-going children be taken up by EMRI once in every six months.
Mr. Chandravadan was quite forthright that private and corporate hospitals cannot refuse medical treatment to any patient brought by the `108' vans.
EMRI services will also be popularised in cinema theatres through a sort of documentary film, according to a press release.
