Sexagenarian held on molestation charge

HYDERABAD: A 60-year-old man P. Srinivas was arrested on charge of molesting a five-year-old girl living next door at Subhashnagar in Alwal on Monday.

The arrested man allegedly lured the girl to his house by offering some snacks when she was playing outside the house on Monday evening. "The little girl came out crying when Srinivas tried to sexually assault her," Alwal Sub-Inspector Satish Reddy said on Tuesday.

Angry locals and the girl's parents gave Srinivas a sound thrashing before alerting the police. The old man had a record of erratic behaviour and was earlier treated at the Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda, according to the police.
