Volvo to increase investment in State

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Volvo Bus Corporation, Sweden, has plans to expand its capacity and make more investment in Karnataka through its Indian subsidiary Volvo India.

This was disclosed at a luncheon meeting Volvo senior vice-president Rune Lundberg had with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy here on Tuesday.

Mr. Lundberg told Mr. Kumaraswamy that Volvo products, being manufactured at its Hoskote plant, had been receiving a good response.

The Chief Minister promised to extend all help to the firm's expansion plan. The proposal would be examined by the high-powered committee of the Industries Department and a speedy approval would be given, he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said the performance of Volvo buses with the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and the Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation was satisfactory.

The Chief Minister noted that the corporations would acquire more Volvo buses and urged the company to manufacture buses as per the specifications given by the corporations.
