CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala. Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Telangana. The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cm: Bantwal and Mani (both Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Kollur (Udupi dt.) 8 each and Kochi Airport and Piravom (Ernakulam dt.) 7 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are:- Quilandy (Kozhikode dt.), Kozha (Kottayam dt.), Kodungallur (Thrissur dt.), Sulya (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Siddapura (Udupi dt.), Gerusoppa (Uttara Kannada dt.) and Bagamandala (Kodagu dt.) 6 each, Kozhikode Airport, Thiruvalla (Pathinamthitta dt.), Cannur, Thalasserry (Cannur dt.), Kunnamkulam and Enamackal (both Thrissur dt.), CIAL Kochi, Perumbavur (Ernakulam dt.), Alapuzha, Mancompu (Alapuzha dt.) and Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt.) 5 each.

FORECAST (valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep, at many places over south interior Karnataka and at a few places over north interior Karnataka and north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana, Rayalaseema and south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Outlook for subsequent two days: No significant change.
