Marathi protagonists to hold rally on July 25

PANAJI: Marathi protagonists have planned a rally in the city on July 25 to press for the withdrawal of the Goa Government's decision to introduce English in the first and second standards in Marathi medium schools.

The rally will be held under the banner of the "Marathi Bachao Andolan" (Save Marathi Movement).

The former Chief Minister, Shashikala Kakodkar, who is spearheading the agitation, said on Wednesday that the movement for saving Marathi language education was akin to saving Indian culture.
