GULBARGA: Security in sensitive areas in Bidar and Gulbarga districts has been strengthened and patrolling by the police stepped up as a precautionary measure following the serial blasts in Mumbai, which left more than 180 people dead and several hundred injured. Inspector-General of Police Rupeshkumar Datta said here on Wednesday that instructions had been issued to the Superintendents of Police of both the Gulbarga and Bidar to keep a strong vigil in sensitive areas. He said security at all check-posts on the border with Maharashtra had been strengthened and vehicles passing through the check-posts would be thoroughly checked. Vigil had been stepped up at railway stations and bus stands and additional police personnel had been despatched to these locations. All hotels and lodges in the two districts would be checked to ascertain the antecedents of visitors. Security at places of worship had been further strengthened, he added.
