Inter-district cricket tournament from July 14

DINDIGUL: The TNCA inter-district U-13 cricket tournament will commence on July 14 simultaneously at seven different centres.

In the league phase, 30 teams have been divided into seven zones (four districts each in A, B, C, D, E and five districts each in F and G).

The top two teams will play a two-day knockout game on July 29 and 30.

Of the seven winning teams, six will play a two-day knockout game with one team getting a bye in the third stage (August 8 and 9).

The semifinals will be held on August 18 and 19 and the final will be held on August 29 to 31.

The teams: A Zone: Nagapattinam: Dharmapuri, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Coimbatore. B Zone: Virudhunagar: Trichy, Virudhunagar, Nilgiris, Madurai. C Zone: Vellore: Salem, Vellore, Perambalur, Villupuram. D Zone: Dindigul: Pondicherry, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Dindigul. E Zone: Erode: Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Erode, Namakkal. F Zone: Theni: Thiruvallur, Theni, Thiruvannamalai, Ramanathapuram, Krishnagiri. G Zone: Tirunelveli: Sivagangai, Karur, Kanchipuram, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore.

Semifinalists spotted

Swamy Sivananda HSS, Coimbatore, Kajamian HSS, Trichy, Government HSS, Perunthurai and Government HSS, Edamalur entered the semifinal round robin league of the fifth T.V. Sundaram Iyengar memorial Trophy State-level inter-school volleyball tournament at Madurai on Wednesday.

Archana strikes it rich

S. Archana of Arul Kumar Youth Badminton Club (AKYBC) walked way with five titles in the United India Insurance district-ranking badminton tournament at the Cosmopolitan Club courts in Coimbatore on TuesdayThe 14-year-old class nine student of Avila MHSS clinched the under-16 singles and doubles, under-19 singles, women's singles and mixed doubles titles.

Inter-school tournaments

Sports tournaments

The Kikani institutions golden jubilee celebration inter-school sports tournaments will begin at the Kikani sports ground from July 14. The disciplines to be contested are football and cricket for boys and throwball for girls.
