HYDERABAD: Engineering counselling began on a violent note in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday with the police resorting to lathicharging activists of student unions protesting against fee hike at Hyderabad, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and Kadapa. However, the violence did not affect counselling in the capital though it began an hour late. Two students were admitted to the Government General Hospital at Guntur with bleeding injuries after they received severe thrashing from the police at the counselling centre. A policeman hit one of them on the head with the butt of the rifle. Strangely, the student was taken to Pattabhipuram police station with the injury instead of being rushed to hospital immediately. Another ten students were also injured in the lathicharge.
