Rushiraj and Shandilya slam centuries

HYDERABAD: A century by D. Rushiraj (125 not out, 17x4, 1x6) was the highlight of Evergreen CC's drawn encounter with India Cements in the A-division (three-day) league cricket championship here on Wednesday.

In an A-division (two-day) match, Shandilya (103, 18x4) helped Sporting XI score a victory over Deccan Chronicle.

The scores:

A-division (three-day) league: BDL 212 and 243 for nine (Praveen 54, Vishnuvardhan 43, P. Inder Sekhar Reddy four for 47, N.Yuveraj Yadav four for 102) drew with India Cements 186; Evergreen 205 and 300 for eight (D. Rushiraj 125 not out) drew with Ensconse 331; SCRSA 381 bt MP Colts 163 and 130 (Azmath Khan 54, Md. Faiq six for 44).

A-division (two-day) league: Sporting XI 304 for six (Shandilya 103, Sunil 75, N. Abhinav four for 61) and 80 (N. Abhinav four for 25) bt Deccan Chronicle 140 (Shiva five for 61) and 150 for eight; Osmania 403 for six (Ashish Kumar 134, Gayathri Prasad 83, Rajender 53, Ravi Chandra 53, Anoop Malpani 41 not out) vs PKMCC.

CRPF, DMC in final

CRPF and Deccan Medical College will clash in the final of the Maganti Rajkumar memorial basketball tournament, organised by the City College Old Boys Basketball Club.

In the first semifinal, CRPF outplayed Rahimpura Playground 99-49 with Rajesh (12) and Shayed Batawar (14) being the main scorers.

In the other semifinal, Deccan College scored a 40-37 win over CCOB with Suraj (10) being the top-scorer.

HPS in last four

Hyderabad Public School and St. Joseph's Public School entered the semifinals of the boys' and girls' sections of the U-15 inter-school tournaments, conducted by the Hyderabad District Basketball Association

The scores:

Boys: HPS 30 (Bharath 10, Asif 8, Muneer 7) bt St. Joseph's Public School, King Koti 15 (Suraj 7, Ronak 6).

Girls: St. Joseph's Public School 17 (Karuja 6, Pavithra 5) bt St. Andrews 10.

AIFF plea to APFA

The All-India Football Federation has requested the AP Football Association to forward the names of all internationals from the State along with their detailed bio-data to enable the former to issue identity cards.

The players who represented India at the Olympics, Asian Games, World Cup qualifiers, Afro-Asian Games, SAF Games and other international events can submit their details in the prescribed proforma, which is available with the APFA.

Athletic meet

The Hyderabad District Athletic Association will organise a district athletics meet at the Lal Bahadur Stadium on July 19 and 29 for boys and girls in different age groups. Entries close on July 19. For details, contact 23395101, 9246529013 or 9849048586.

Selection trials

The District Sports Authority of Hyderabad will organise selection trials from July 17 to 25 to pick the team for the forthcoming Chief Minister's Cup. Trials will be held for athletics, basketball, football, hockey, handball, softball, kho kho, kabaddi, weightlifting, boxing, carrom, swimming, ball badminton and bodybuilding. Easy for Central

Central Zone defeated North Zone by nine wickets in the Matrix Labs ACA under-19 inter-zonal tournament for N. Venkata Rao trophy played at SMC grounds in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

The scores: North Zone 100 in 35.5 overs (S. Kranthi Kumar 45. T.K. Ganesh Kumar five for 24) lost to Central Zone 101 for 1 in 26.4 overs (Ch. Ramesh 50).

SCR (Vja) finishes second

South Central Railway, Vijayawada Division, finished second in the inter-divisional football tournament, which concluded at Secunderabad on July 10. In the tournament, in which eight teams took part, Vijayawada lost to Secunderabad in the final 0-2. Shankar, J. Srinivas, Benny and Sunil Kumar played exceedingly well for the team. Divisional Railway Manager S K. Sharma, Additional DRM K.V.V. Satyanarayana and Divisional Sports Officer P. Kishore Babu congratulated the team.

Krishna is champion

Krishna won the ACA Central Zone u-22 inter-district championship defeating Guntur by eight wickets at Guntur on Tuesday.

The scores: Guntur 162 & 168 (M. Praneeth 54, Sai Ram 40, Chaitanya five for 48) lost to Krishna 314 and 20 for 2 (Praveen 107, Prabhu Kiran 62, Ajay seven for 68).

West Godavari 207 (Ramanitin 70, Bhuvana four for 85) drew with Prakasam 102 and 328 (Achyuth 150 n.o, Bhuvana 121, Zakir five for 90, V. Teja five for 98).
