National road racing third leg on July 16

COIMBATORE: The third leg of the UCAL Rolon National racing championship for two-wheelers will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Chettipalayam near here on July 16. For local enthusiasts, it will be the final opportunity to witness the riders in action as the bandwagon moves to Chennai for the last three legs starting from September.

Ashwin Sunder of Chennai will be the cynosure of all eyes in the Group D four-stroke 80-110cc and 111-160cc categories. He has already built a big lead in the overall championship tally and looks set to increase it.

In the Group B four-stroke 111-160cc class, K. Rajini is sitting pretty with 70 points to his credit. Preetam Dev Moses is not far behind with 64 points.

Despite a tough challenge from last year's champion T.K. Vishwanath, Rajini has also done extremely well in the Group C 11-150cc class and leads the table with 61 points.

The qualifying races are scheduled for July 15. A special demo race for 1000cc foreign bikes will be held the next day.
