Manufacturing pushes up industrial growth
NEW DELHI:
Industrial growth skid to 10 per cent during May this year from 10.8 per cent in May 2005, mainly owing to a slump in mining and power even as the manufacturing sector continued with its robust performance. The data on the index of industrial production (IIP) released by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) here on Wednesday shows that the overall industrial growth during the month would have been still lower but for the manufacturing sector which retained its momentum and continued to grow at the steady rate of 11.3 per cent for the second consecutive month of 2006-07.
