COIMBATORE: Pricol Technologies, involved in engineering design and part of the Rs. 650 crore Pricol Group here, has started product development services with focus on products that have mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic contents. A. S. Ramaseshan, President and Chief Operating Officer, told The Hindu that the service, which was started about nine months ago, operated on a turnkey basis. Pricol Technologies was already into embedded system development and CAD services for engineering companies. It now offers product and market research and benchmarking, styling, concept development, design feasibility study, detailed design, computer aided engineering test and validation, rapid prototyping, tooling and even production under the new product development service. It had product development orders to the tune of Rs. 12-13 crore and these would be completed in 18-24 months. He said a couple of products were in development stage and the company was working on eight more projects now. Most of these were for overseas (Europe and the U.S.) clients. "We are looking at high engineering value content projects," he said. The service was not restricted to any specific sector and the products that it was working on now included one for a furniture manufacturer in the U.S. and another was development of a type of sensor for a petrochemical company in the U.S. Pricol Technologies was also doing product styling projects for a couple of Indian automotive customers through Carcerano Pricoltech India Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Pricol Technologies and Italian company, Carcerano Srl.
