NEW DELHI: HCL Infosystems on Wednesday launched a personal computer for the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and ITES sector.

Aimed at reducing infrastructure cost for the fast-growing BPO and ITES sector, the computer had been priced in the range of Rs. 30,000-Rs. 45,000, HCL Marketing Executive Vice President George Paul said.

The HCL BPO PC would enable the operation of one PC in two securely-isolated work environments without loss of any data, he said.

It provided a hardware firewall between PC units and integrated them into one, which brought down the infrastructure cost for the company, he said, adding that adequate data security measures had been embedded in the system.

He said the computer would be distributed through HCL's 170 sales offices and through channel partners.

"The ITES and BPO segment has registered 37 per cent growth recently and is expected to grow further. The Indian BPO market can capture 25 per cent of the global BPO market by 2008-09,'' Mr. Paul said.

Speaking at the launch, Nasscom (National Association of Software and Services Companies) President Kiran Karnik said, "The new HCL BPO computer will cut the infrastructure cost to about 30-40 per cent. To sustain growth momentum of this industry, we constantly need to come out with such customised products to support its requirements.''

HCL also unveiled a range of infrastructure platforms for the BPO and ITES industry, which include end-to-end solutions covering computing, security, in-house broadcasting, audio-video conferencing and printing among others. — PTI
