NEW DELHI : Youngster S.P. Sethuraman (2.5 points) continued his impressive run by holding Ukrainian Grandmaster Ruslan Pogorelov on a day of mixed results for the Indians in the Andorra International Open chess tournament in Andoraa La Vella on Tuesday. In the previous round, Sethuraman had upstaged GM-norm holder S. Satyapragyan. After four rounds, six players share the lead with 3.5 points. Lanka Ravi, Abhijeet Gupta and Saptarshi Roy are among those with three points.
Tania holds Burmakin
Meanwhile in Benasque, WGM Tania Sachdev drew with sixth seeded Russian GM Vladimir Burmakin to move to 4.5 points from six rounds of the Benasque International Open chess tournament on Tuesday. This result, with black pieces against a rival with a rating of 2558, has kept Tania, the lone Indian in the fray, among those sharing the third spot. Elizbar Ubilava, former trainer of Viswanathan Anand and coach of India's men team in the Turin Olympiad in June, shares the lead with four others at 5.5 points.
