KANNUR: Most of the shops here remained closed on Wednesday in response to the traders' hartal in the district called by the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithy (KVVES) district committee in protest against the arrest of office-bearers of the organisation here on Tuesday. Shopkeepers belonging to the KVVES kept their shops closed in protest against the detention of their leaders, including district president Devasya Mecheri for obstructing officials of a local court from attaching some movable properties of the Vyapara Bhavan here. The traders' hartal was near total in town areas.
