TDP ridicules Chief Whip's claim

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has ridiculed Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's claim that the Congress has put together a plan which will compel TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to shift from his Kuppam constituency.

At a press conference on Tuesday, TDP spokesperson N. Rajakumari said it was surprising that the Chief Whip could come up with such arrogant claims considering the fact that their strategies of capturing 22 Zilla Parishads had not been very successful and that the TDP had fared much better than what the Congress had expected.

Referring to the Chief Whip's demand for the resignation of Mr. Naidu, she asked whether Mr. Reddy would do the same, in view of the TDP performing exceedingly well in his own constituency.

She said Mr. Reddy should know that the Congress could contest and win in Kuppam and in Mr. Naidu's native village of Naravaripalli as the latter believed in democracy unlike the Chief Minister's constituency of Pulivendula and Kadapa where TDP candidates were threatened and not allowed to file nominations.
