Hoshiarpur: A child died on Wednesday and four patients were admitted to hospital following an outbreak of diarrhoea in a village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district. Eight-year-old Vijay Kumar of village Chak Fallu of Garhshankar sub-division of the district died of diarrhoea, Manjit Kaur, Civil Surgeon, Hoshiarpur, said. Two teams of doctors conducted intensive survey to locate the diarrhoea patients in the village, she said. Four patients were admitted to Civil Hospital, Garhshankar. An Out Patients Department was opened in the village and five were treated there itself. Sufficient quantity of chlorine tablets has been distributed to the people of the affected and adjoining villages of Badesron and Pandori Beet. Five samples of water from the hand pumps have also been taken. On account of some problem in the water supply source, inhabitants were drawing water from hand pumps. PTI .
