CHENNAI : Madras Management Association (MMA), a non-profit organisation with over 3,000 members, has planned a grand valedictory programme for its ongoing 50th year celebrations on Friday. It includes a dinner to honour its past presidents and presentation of the `MMA Awards for Managerial Excellence.' The MMA Awards are presented this year to Pricol Industries in the manufacturing sector, Indian Bank in the service sector and Loyola Institute of Business Administration in the education sector. The MMA was founded as The Madras Institute of Management (MIM) in August 1956 to further management development under the presidentship of Dr. A. Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar, former Vice-Chancellor of Madras University. The All India Management Association, when the later was formed in 1957, and was renamed as the MMA. MMA executive director Major S. Lakshmanan said the Golden Jubilee celebrations starting last July included the `Leaders Speak on Management' series, featuring talks by 12 eminent speakers from various fields; `Golden Successes of the Region' focusing on success stories of companies from South; a regional conclave on `Role of Industry in Development of South India'. The Golden Jubilee Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday at the Hotel Le Royal Meridien.
