Stalin reviews civic facilities

Local Administration Minister directs officials to improve sanitation


Conducts grievance redress meeting with Thousand Lights residents

Chennai: Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday held a grievance redress meeting with residents of his constituency, Thousand Lights in Chennai. He visited R.K. Puram and Buchs Road, and spoke to residents about civic facilities. After listening to their complaints, he directed officials to improve the sanitation facilities in the area. Earlier on Tuesday he said tenders had been floated for laying drinking water pipelines at a cost of Rs. 24 lakh in a hitherto unserved area in T. Nagar.

During a visit to review civic infrastructure development in the constituency, Mr. Stalin said that the pipelines would be laid for a length of 240 metres from G.N. Chetty Road to Parthasarathy Pettai Street.

About 300 families would benefit after this plan, the Minister said. The Minister also reviewed ongoing pipe-laying work in Peerkaran, Muthaiah and Babu streets and development work of Rs. 2 lakh in the Narayansamy Naidu Park. Chennai Corporation Commissioner M.P. Vijayakumar and Metrowater Managing Director Shiv Das Meena participated in the review.

On July 8, Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veerasamy participated in the bhoomi pooja (foundation stone laying ceremony) for new classrooms in the Chennai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Pulla Avenue ward. Classrooms and toilets will be built at a cost of Rs. 34.45 lakh from the MLA constituency fund. Mr. Veerasamy also participated in the bhoomi pooja for the zone five Crescent Park playground, where basketball, volleyball and football courts are planned at Rs. 20.5 lakh.

Exercise equipment would also be provided. He also inaugurated the renovated Namachivayam Park in Anna Nagar constituency.
