Couple commits suicide at Tiruvanmiyur

CHENNAI: A couple was found hanging in their house in Tiruvanmiyur on Tuesday.

Police identified them as N. Manikandan (27) and his wife Dhanalakshmi (24).

Police said Manikandan, from Tirukazhukundram was staying in a house on Gandhi Street, Periyar Nagar in Tiruvanmiyur. On Wednesday night, he called his father at Tirukazhukundram and asked him to come home on Thursday morning.

The father came on Wednesday night and saw the couple hanging from the hook of the ceiling fan.

He informed the Tiruvanmiyur police who removed the bodies for post-mortem.

Police said the couple committed suicide as they did not have a child. Police are investigating

Woman absconding

Valasaravakkam police are on the lookout for a woman who allegedly fed her husband poison in Porur last week.

Police said the woman, Poornima quarrelled with her husband Dayalan (31).

On Saturday, the woman, under the pretext of giving Dayalan medicines, gave him poison.

Dayalan was admitted to a private hospital in Porur, where he is undergoing treatment.

Dayalan's brother Ramesh filed a complaint with the police who are searching for Poornima.
