CHENNAI: Revivals'06 - Madras Medical College's intercollegiate cultural fiesta began on Wednesday amid much excitement and expectation at the college premises.

Inaugurating the five-day cultural fest, Health and Family Welfare Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran appreciated the students' efforts and said that the infrastructure and facilities in the college would be upgraded further in the next few years.

This would include renovation of the hostels and college buildings on a par with private institutions.

He also advised students to provide medical services to rural people for at least four years in their career.

P. Vijayalakshmi, Director of Medical Education, said that MMC had a number of firsts to its credit. Describing the fest as a massive event, she urged students to take "a step further in showcasing their talent with each passing year."

Kalavathy Ponniraivan, Dean of Government General Hospital and MMC, also appreciated the students' dedication in organising such events.

Among those who participated were S. Geethalakshmi, MMC vice-principal and staff advisor, G. Sivakumar.
