KOCHI: The district education authorities verified student strength in schools in Ernakulam district on Wednesday. As many as 1,126 teachers, including headmasters of primary schools and high school teachers, participated in the process. As many as 1,028 Government schools in Ernakulam, Kothamangalam, Aluva and Muvattupuzha areas were covered. The teachers were assisted by 241 assistants from Government offices. Lower and upper primary and high schools, including Government, aided and unaided institutions, were covered, said the Deputy Director of Education V. Sanu. Officials from local self-governments conducted inspections at unaided, unauthorised and unrecognised schools in their respective areas. The student strength was verified simultaneously in all schools for avoiding attempts to boost it by presenting students from other schools. The reports would be compiled in the coming days.
