Watchman murdered

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The watchman of an apartment complex was murdered in the Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits in the city on Tuesday.

The police said that around 11.30 p.m., Balakrishna (28), watchman of Cauvery Apartments on 2nd Cross, ISRO Layout, was stabbed to death. Balakrishna, who was sleeping in the watchman's shed at the apartment complex, went out after some one called out for him.

A few minutes later, Balakrishna's wife Vijay Kumari and his brother-in-law Gangadhar heard him shouting for help. When they rushed out of their house, they found Balakrishna lying in a pool of blood. The assailants had stabbed him in the abdomen with knives.

They rushed Balakrishna to a private hospital in 2nd Phase, J.P. Nagar, where doctors declared him "brought dead", the police said.

Balakrishna was a native of Palmaner in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

The police are yet to ascertain the reason for the murder.

On Monday some people, claiming themselves as pressure cooker repairers, had come to the apartment complex thrice enquiring about an address. Balakrishna had shoved them away suspecting their credentials, the police said. The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case.
