Bonalu festivities to begin in old city from tomorrow

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The committee of the Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple on Wednesday urged women to offer "bonam" to goddess Mahankali in temples located in their respective areas to save their families from various types of viral fever, including chikungunya.

Committee president G. Niranjan said that the Bonalu festival in the old city will begin with "Mahabhisekham" and "Kalasa Sthapana" at the Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple at Shahlibanda on July 14.

A photo exhibition will be organised from July 20 to 23 in which photos representing various phases of the festival organised for the last five decades will be exhibited. The festival will conclude with "ghatam" procession on July 24.
