HYDERABAD:
B. Pushpa, a 46-year-old housewife of S.S. Colony, Kukatpally, is quite a celebrity in her locality. The tale of her bravery is in fact the talk of the colony.
It all started after Ms. Pushpa fought off three burglars and helped in capturing them on Monday. "It was around 2 p.m. when I was waiting for the LPG delivery guys that someone knocked on the door. I opened it to find three men standing outside. They asked whether my son Praveen was at home. When I said he had left for work, two of them barged in. One took out a knife and threatened me but by that time I ran out and shut the door on them. "Since the door had an automatic lock, they were trapped inside. But the man standing outside pushed me. I lost balance and fell down the stairs. He was trying to run away, but by that time, the neighbours rushed in hearing me screaming and nabbed him," Ms. Pushpa recalled the day's horror when Cyberabad DCP (Crimes) Soumya Misra visited her on Wednesday.
Ms. Misra presented Ms. Pushpa with an appreciation letter from Cyberabad Commissioner M. Mahendar Reddy.
