BSES betrayed its staff: BJP

`Power firm has misappropriated funds meant for their welfare'

NEW DELHI: The Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, S.P. Ratawal, and senior party leader Jagdish Mamgain have accused the Delhi Government and BSES Power Limited of betraying the employees working under them and misappropriating funds meant for their welfare.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Ratawal and Mr. Mamgain said privatisation of the power sector in the Capital had brought misery to the employees of the erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board many of who have died after suffering severe mental agony leaving their families to fend for themselves.

Mr. Ratawal said that during December 2003 BSES had announced a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for its regular employees.
