NEW DELHI: In the wake of the serial blasts in local trains in Mumbai on Tuesday, the Special Cell of the Delhi police has stepped up anti-terrorist operations in coordination with intelligence agencies. The Special Cell officers have been asked to act on vital inputs provided by the intelligence agencies. Revelations made by militants arrested in the recent past are being re-examined to gather clues about any terrorist-network that might still be active in and around the Capital. Since the beginning of this year, militants belonging to outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami and Al-Badr have been arrested in Delhi and large consignments of explosives and ammunition seized. The disclosures made by some of the LeT militants are crucial as they hinted at a sudden increase in the activities of the outfit, particularly in Maharashtra and Gujarat, under the leadership of Pakistan-based Azam Cheema. They also disclosed that the outfit was relying on young men with technical knowledge to carry out strikes with precision. Earlier on Wednesday, Police Commissioner K.K. Paul attended a high-level meeting convened by the Home Ministry to review security measures. It is also learnt that another meeting was held in the afternoon to streamline intelligence sharing and coordination among various agencies.
