Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Centre has approved extension of the `flexible complementing scheme (FCS)' in force in the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) laboratories to the scientists of the coffee, rubber and spices boards. According to the Minister of State for Commerce, Jairam Ramesh, with this scheme in place, the scientific efforts of the boards will get a boost and they will be in a far better position to attract and retain scientific and technological personnel.

In the Coffee Board, the scheme will be introduced up to the Scientists `D' level and in spices and rubber boards, this will be introduced up to the Scientists `C' level. The scheme has come into effect from the date of issue of these orders, that is July 6, says an official release.

The existing scheme was one of the recommendations of the Fifth Central Pay Commission.
