NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said on Thursday that `Salwa Judum' (peace march) against naxalism in the State would go down in history as one of the world's most successful revolutions. Talking to reporters at a programme organised by the Indian Women's Press Corp here, Mr. Singh described `Salwa Judum' as a people's movement against terrorism and naxalism and their fight for democracy. "It is a Gandhian movement initiated by the indigenous people of Bastar who are braving sophisticated weapons and landmines to make it a success." Mr. Singh, however, made it clear that there was no alternative to resolving the issue through talks. "Talks are the only way. History has shown that violence can never solve anything," he said, adding that the Centre, the State Government and those following the path of violence should come together and discuss the matter across the table. Discounting allegations that "Salwa Judum" was a State-sponsored movement, Mr. Singh said no government could sustain any movement for long.
