Dubai: After deciding against the implementation of trials allowing players a limited number of appeals to the third umpire against an on-field official's decision, the ICC has called on cricketers to show greater respect to the spirit of the game by walking when aware that they are out and being honest about close catches and nicks. ``I call on all players to take this opportunity to confirm their respect for the spirit of the game and support the umpires, not with words but with actions,'' ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed said in a statement. Mr. Speed said Elite Panel umpires, despite being the best in the world, would make mistakes but players could make their job easier by being honest in close situations and by showing respect to the opposition.
