Monsanto lab gets certificate from seed testing organisation

The facility in Bellary can issue certificates for seeds exported


  • The accreditation is valid for three years
  • The laboratory can take up research and publish data

    Bangalore: The seed testing laboratory of Monsanto India Ltd. in Bellary has been awarded a certificate of accreditation by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA).

    The accreditation represents the highest standards in seed purity, and is valid for three years. The scope of the accreditation pertains to sampling, physical purity, germination and moisture testing of cereals, vegetables and other field crops.

    The Bellary laboratory is authorised to issue ISTA international seed analysis certificates for seeds that are exported. The laboratory can promote research and publish technological data as per ISTA rules.

    Appointment

    Bangalore-based Altair Engineering has appointed Kuruvilla Lukose as chief technology officer, Altair Engineering India.

    Mr. Lukose is a veteran of the information technology industry with over 25 years of experience. He worked on software development at SDRC, Ohio, U.S., for 10 years, and served in a technical marketing position at Silicon Graphics in India. He was principal consultant, TAFE, and helped it set up its engineering services division. He has also served Strand Genomics as chief information officer.

    Mr. Lukose is a postgraduate from Cornell University and a graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Before joining Altair Engineering, he was a consultant to the National Institute of Design, Silicon Graphics and the Aeronautical Development Agency for high-end visualisation and engineering projects.

    New system

    National Instruments (NI) India, leaders in PC-based data acquisition, has launched NI CompactDAQ, a high-speed modular data acquisition (DAQ) system based on the Universal Serial Bus (USB).

    "USB has gained popularity as a result of its ease of use and ubiquity in modern electronics. We designed NI CompactDAQ to take full advantage of the bandwidth now available with hi-speed USB, and minimised both size and power consumption for laptop users and portable requirements," said Jayaram Pillai, NI India Managing Director.

    As part of the launch, NI is offering a "complete solution offer", valid till August 31 this year, which offers a complimentary version of NI data logging software with every NI data acquisition purchase.
