Letters to the Editor
The cowardly and barbaric acts of terror deserve the strongest condemnation. Those responsible for the bombings are devoid of humanity. Islam forbids killing of innocent people and destruction of property. Muslims of this nation have immense faith in the secular and democratic fabric of the country and are committed to stand in solidarity with the Government.
That the seven strikes took place at peak hour when commuters cannot even move testifies to the chilling, sinister and macabre designs of those who perpetrated them. In a broader sense, it is not possible to stop terrorists in a city like Mumbai and more so on its trains where the sheer weight of numbers restricts proper policing. Commuters should be alert and perhaps it is time to revive the system of appointing special marshals from among civilians.
