Mixed response to Dehra Dun bandh against blasts

Staff Correspondent

DEHRA DUN: A "Dehra Dun bandh" call by the Vir Sawarkar Yuva Sanghatan (VSYS) to protest against the serial blasts in Mumbai and Srinagar evoked a mixed response here on Thursday.

Most educational institutions and the main markets in the city remained closed while life was normal on the outskirts. Work in Government offices continued as usual. VSYS activists blocked traffic at the Clock Tower in the city centre and some motorbike-borne young men forced closure of shops that were open.

Many local residents expressed displeasure at the closure of schools and markets as that did not in any way help either the blast victims or in solving the terrorist problem.
