HYDERABAD: The State Government has enhanced the LLB course fee by Rs. 1,000 taking it to Rs. 7,500 per annum for "A" category seats (to be filled by the Convenor) while fee for the "B" category seats (management quota) will be Rs. 25,000 per annum in private unaided law colleges. Fee in the university colleges is Rs. 1,280 per year. Asutosh Mishra, Principal Secretary, Higher Education and Member-Secretary, Fee Fixation Committee, said that the new fee would be valid for the academic years 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09. However, existing students would continue to pay previous year's fee till they completed their course.
15 p.c. for NRIs
The "A" category seats would have 80 per cent of the total seats and would be filled by the Convenor while the "B" category seats would be filled by managements with 15 per cent earmarked for NRIs and 5 per cent for students from other states under the national integration quota. Mr. Mishra said college managements should not charge any capitation fee except that fixed by the committee.
`Profit for college'
Any additional amount charged by colleges under any head would be considered capitation fee. Moreover, the profit generated from the collection of fee should be used only for the benefit of the institution and not for personal gain. He said the colleges should collect fee for only one year.
