JAIPUR: An "Agri Conclave-2006'' being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Kota this weekend is aimed at generating awareness among farmers about modern agricultural technologies and inputs to augment the crop yields and get better quality of farm produce. Nearly 300 farmers from remote villages in the Hadauti region of southeastern Rajasthan are expected to take part in the two-day event beginning on Friday. An official release issued here on Thursday said the conclave would also be attended by experts in agriculture and agricultural marketing, academicians and representatives of firms dealing with farm produce as well as non-Government organisations. An exhibition to be held at the conclave will make live demonstrations of new agricultural gadgets and technologies and provide useful information about recent findings and research. The speakers at the conclave will include S.L. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University for Agriculture and Technology; M.L. Mehta, Vice-Chairman of Rajasthan Livelihood Mission; Sitaram Gupta of Lupin Human Welfare; and P.P. Chhengal Reddy, Secretary-General of the Consortium of Indian Pharmacy Association.
